Updating
Your config and data live outside the container, so updating replaces only the image.
Docker Compose
Section titled “Docker Compose”docker compose pulldocker compose up -ddocker image prune -f # optional: removes the old imageIf you built the image yourself:
git pulldocker build -t local/valet:dev .docker compose up -dFrom source
Section titled “From source”git pullnpm installnpm run buildnpm startAfterwards
Section titled “Afterwards”docker exec valet node dist/server.js config checkNew options come with a default, so a config that doesn’t mention them keeps working.
Three things can need a look after an update:
- Your own CSS. The selectors
appearance.cssandcssFilehook into aren’t a stable API. - Plugins. Their cards are checked against the card catalog at runtime, so one that no longer fits is caught there.
- A service that changed its API. Integrations are tested against a sample of each API, which can’t prove the service still answers that way. If one breaks on your version, open an issue with the response it sent.
Back up
Section titled “Back up”Back up two folders: config and data. There’s no database.
data holds accounts, the signing secret, history, pins, watches, the activity log, your to-do lists and any plugins. Treat it as private. The icon cache and uploads in there are safe to lose.
Going back
Section titled “Going back”Pin a digest in your Compose file instead of latest, and put the old one back if an update misbehaves. There’s no database to migrate: data is plain files.
